Labor of Love Blog Hop

Labor of Love Blog HopWelcome to my stop on the Labor Of Love Blog Hop! I’m happy to be joining the rest of the authors in sharing our written labors of love and giving readers a chance to win a brand-spankin’ new Kindle pre-loaded with a bunch of our books! (see below for Rafflecopter entry and Linky to the rest of the blog hop stops)

My labor of love consists of an entire series…my Romancing Wisconsin Series, which features the eccentric, lovable, match-making Santa Butch—a.k.a. my dad in real life. I’ve taken some liberties with the character, of course, but my dad playing Santa around the lake when I was growing up inspired the character, and he makes at least a cameo in each book.

Romancing Wisconsin starts with the 3 winter/Christmas books (Book 1 is a First in Series FREE starter) and continues through the 4 seasons—or it will once it’s complete.  I have Winter and Autumn, and am working on Spring, so today I’m sharing with you the most recent release, SPRING FLING, book 7.

Spring Fling a small town contemporary romance in the Romancing Wisconsin series by Stacey Joy Netzel

A week of no-strings fun is never that simple.

Tessa Sullivan figures she can handle a no-strings-attached fling with the handsome stranger she meets at her sister’s Spring wedding. After all, she doesn’t believe in love. Or so she tells herself.

Trevor Jackson’s painful past leaves him adamant he’ll never open his heart again. But a week of uncomplicated fun with the beautiful bridesmaid? Now that’s an arrangement he can work with.

All’s well that ends well—a mutually enjoyable relationship that will end as simply as it started—until someone breaks the rules and falls in love.

EXCERPT:

In the middle of getting Butch Walsh’s usual cherry turnover on an exceptionally busy Tuesday morning, Tessa straightened from the pastry case and glanced up right into Trouble’s smiling face. Her traitorous pulse leapt as a flood of heat swept through her body.

“Good morning, Tessa.”

“Hey.” A smile took over her mouth, making her feel like an infatuated teenage girl.

Get it together, she mentally admonished. True, it was barely eight a.m., and she’d been anticipating Trevor’s arrival with giddy excitement, but she didn’t have to let him know that. “I’ll be with you in a few minutes.”

He responded by turning his dimpled grin to Santa as he extended a hand in greeting. “Hi. Trevor Jackson.”

“Butch Walsh. Nice to meet ya.” He shook the younger man’s hand and gave him a once over. “Yer new in town, aren’t ya?”

“I am.”

Tessa narrowed her gaze on Trevor, considering his forthright introduction after their conversation about the white-bearded matchmaker in the park yesterday. Butch turned his speculative gaze back to her, so she looked him right in the eye to ward off any ideas. “Trevor is visiting from California. He’ll be gone in a week.”

Santa eyed her six feet of trouble, who was entirely too handsome with his wind-ruffled, dark hair and a black T-shirt visible beneath his worn, leather bomber jacket. “Is that so?”

“It is.”

“And how do you like our town?”

“I’ve found quite a lot to like in your town, sir. Very attractive.” Mid-way, Trevor’s gaze slid to Tessa, and her pulse went haywire.

Santa Butch nodded with a pleased smile and a twinkle in his eye. “You might consider sticking ‘round a little longer then.”

“Butch, your order is ready,” she cut in, moving past Kyra on her way to the register. “You don’t want to keep Judy waiting.”

He stepped over to the counter to pay, then picked up his cup and bag. Trevor remained by the pastry cases, smiling as if he knew exactly why she was rushing Santa on his way. Damn man was appealing even when he was cocky.

Butch leaned in to wink at Tessa and said in a low voice, “He’s on the good list, ya know.”

She smiled as she shook her head. The mischievous old coot loved to play with the Santa myth every chance he got. Especially if it advanced his agenda and gave him another notch in the matchmaking success column.

“He’s not sticking around,” she insisted.

“Ya never know.”

Add in a stray German Shepherd who wraps Trevor around her paw, and you’re gonna love it!

My favorite thing about Spring is being able to read in the backyard. Thank you
    Happy Labor Day Weekend Stacey!

  2. A sweet labor of labor of love is when my husband helps me set up my business on the weekends at events even those he has worked all week. And never complains even though he has to get up early which he hates 😉

  3. If I lived somewhere other than the desert, I’d say the cooler weather is the best part of spring. However, where I reside Spring tends to pass by and just let Summer take center stage.
Thank you for taking part in the hop, Stacey and Happy Labor Day!

    • There are times if it meant skipping mud I’d skip Spring, but I’d probably end up missing it. Thanks for letting me be a part of the hop, Jamie! Happy Labor Day back at ya! 🙂

  4. My favorite thing about spring are all the shades of green outside as everything wakes up when the ground thaws.
